The New Tweed Jacket

My ideal holiday look? Not a sparkly dress, that's for sure. It would definitely be something close to this look. I found this amazing metallic tweed vest at the Alice and Olivia shop in Bloomingdale's - it was screaming my name! The coppery shine projects a warm tone that makes it the perfect winter glam piece. Although unavailable online, you can shop a similar style, the A+O Kellen jacket, here

DIY: Scallop Collar

Top - Elie Tahari

  Necklace - DIY (see below)

I made the patchwork necklace out of small fabric samples. After picking out the colors I wanted, I took a pair of pinking shears sawtooth edge sewing scissors (which you can buy here) and cut three scallops on the bottom edge of each fabric square. After sewing the fabrics together in an arc, I sewed black ribbon on both ends of the necklace which allows the necklace to tie beautifully at the back! This petal effect creates a scallop collar that you can add to any outfit. I chose a more neutral palette because my fabric samples were limited to that, but if you choose to use bright and patterned fabric this necklace will definitely turn heads!

Spotted on the Street: Eamonn Wright

My best friend Eamonn Wright was recently featured in a video by Bill Cunningham reporting on August fashion on the streets of New York. Cunningham is fascinated with the "new generation of young men" these days who are dressing the way they really want. He addresses how this revolution in menswear involves breaking out of the confining standards conventionally controlled by manufacturers, and experimenting with different elements of dress. Look for Eamonn's shot at 0:33 in the video below. He updates the classic plaid button down by choosing a slim fit and creates a v-neckline by leaving the top buttons undone. Although all he is wearing is a simple button down, jeans, and loafers, the way he decides to pair these elements together makes this outfit as a whole much more than just simple (Shirt, H&M ; Jeans, Levi's ; Shoes, ASOS ; Belt, Vintage). By the way, Eamonn has a wonderful fashion and lifestyle blog of his own, The Ensembler, so make sure to check it out here.

Neutrals in Sunset

I am in love with this DVF colorblock jacket. It's a refreshing piece to have in my closet alongside the typical black blazer. The navy sleeves make it a much more casual jacket which allows me to dress up with white trousers or dress down with a pair of denim ankle skimmers. I'm really trying to work in color here! Baby steps, baby steps.
